Ce week-end fut vraiment extraordinaire. Il faisait beau, il faisait chaud, il y en avait du monde dehors et le meilleur fut le fait que j'ai pu constaté tout ça de mes yeux. Pourquoi? Parce que le Navire Canadien de Sa Majesté Halifax était amarré dans le Vieux-Port et j'ai du y travailler. Ne pleurez pas sur mon sort, j'ai surtout travaillé à l'extérieur et j'ai pu savourer des crêpes bretonnes et des gelatos au chocolat sur une terrasse à la Place Jacques-Cartier pour le lunch. Vraiment de toute beauté. Malheureusement aujourd'hui sera la dernière journée de ce presqu'été précoce, demain le printemps reprend ses droits mais vu que je m'y attendais, je ne m'en fait pas trop.

Selon moi, le beau temps et la chaleur équivaut à une jupe. Je me suis dépêchée à me faire une de ces jupes vendredi, samedi et dimanche soir afin de pouvoir les porter le lendemain car je refuse de mettre des jeans lorsqu'il fait chaud, sauf quand il pleut. J'adore mettre une jupe, on pourrait même dire que lorsque j'en porte une on pourrait presqu'entendre I'm every woman chanté par Chaka Khan. Afin réaliser les patrons pour les modèles ci-dessus, j'ai encore une fois utilisé mon patron de base pour faire une jupe ligne A auquel j'ai rajouté 5 cm. Je l'ai fait pour la première jupe à gauche et j'ai assez aimé la longueur que j'ai fait de même pour les deux autres. Le devant de la première jupe est fait de trois morceaux, l'empiècement étant beaucoup plus large que l'ouverture où il est cousu ce qui le fait former un pli, vers l'intérieur ou l'extérieur pendant que je marche. Pour les deux autres jupes, j'ai tout simplement tracé un empiècement de 12 cm à l'ourlet. Encore une fois des jupes faciles à faire.

Mon prochain défi maintenant est de me faire des bermudas pour cet été. Cela fait des années que je n'en n'avait pas fait, trop d'ajustement à faire sur le patron. Par contre, il m'est de plus en plus difficile de m'en trouver en magasin qui me fasse comme il faut et donc je n'ai plus le choix, je dois me faire un gabarit de base qui me permettra de me faire des shorts, bermudas, jeans etc... J'en fait fait un gabarit il y quelques mois en utilisant mes jeans Mexx mais malheureusement, je l'avais laissé traîner par terre et mon minet m'a signifié son insatisfaction quand à l'état de sa litière en se soulageant dessus...

This weekend was wonderful. It was gorgeous out, it was warm enough to go out bare legged and there were people everywhere. The best part was that I got to verify that for myself. Why? Because Her Majesty's Canadian Ship Halifax was in the Old Port and I had to work there. Don't cry for me though, I spent most of the time working outside and I got to enjoy chocolate gelatos and savoury crepes on a terrasse on Jacques-Cartier square for lunch. Truly wonderful. Unfortunately, today's the last day of this early summer, spring's coming back tomorrow but since I was expecting that to happen, I don't mind at all.

To me, nice weather equals skirt. I hurried to make these skirts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings so that I could wear them the next day. I refuse to cover my bottom half in jeans when it's hot out, except when it rains. I love wearing skirts, you could almost hear Chaka Khan's I'm every woman in the air when I walk around wearing one. To make the patterns for the above skirts, I once again used my template for an A line skirt that I simply made 2 inches longer for the skirt on the left and I loved it so much that I did the same for the other two. The front of the first skirt is made in three pieces, the wedge being significantly larger then the spot where it's sewn it so it forms a pleat, inward or out ward as I walk. For the other two pieces, I simply traced out a 4 ¾ inch piece at the bottom. Easy projects, especially since I've adopte hemming ribbon to simply press the hem in place rather than sew it up by hand... I used to be hardcore about doing it that way but now I only do that for delicate fabric and dressier projects.

My next challenge: pants. I haven't made a pair in a couple of years, too many adjustments required on patterns. Now though, it's getting too hard to find a pair in a store that fits right so the time has finally come for me to bite the bullet and make myself a template to my measurements. I really want to make a few of those dressy cropped pants to go with all of the frilly tops I got. I did make a template for pants using my Mexx jeans a couple of months ago but my furry butterball chose to signify his dissatisfaction with the state of his litter by releaving himself on it, I had left it lying around on the floor...
