Ceci a été une semaine pas mal occupée, je suis retournée au boulot après deux semaines d'absence et évidemment, la pile de travail à faire à augmenter de façon exponentielle. Au moins à la maison, j'ai eu tout le temps le soir pour travailler sur la toile de mon mannequin et ce ne fut pas facile. Je voulais la faire avec une popeline brune que j'avais acheté pour un autre projet mais j'en avait pas assez. Ensuite j'ai voulu utiliser un lin noir qui traînait dans ma pile de « future projet» mais en utilisant le patron que j'ai utilisé était trop petite à la taille. J'ai donc été faire un tour à la mercerie où j'ai déniché cette gabardine gris-beige. J'ai fait le patron avec une toile directement sur le mannequin. Après certains ajustements, j'avais tout fini et j'ai décidé de mettre une robe nouvellement achetée sur le mannequin pour vérifier et le mannequin, il fallait me rendre à l'évidence était tout simplement trop grand.

J'ai donc défait la toile au dos, et avec mon couteau, j'ai taillé des pinces sur le ventre, dans le dos jusqu'aux fesses, et sous les aisselles. Ma chère Kiki (c'est son nom) à l'air du monstre de Frankenstein sous sa toile mais maintenant, sa silhouette correspond à la mienne. Mes yeux me disait qu'entre autres, elle avait trop de bedaine mais j'avais réussi à me faire croire que c'était la vanité qui parlait. La différence était frappante, surtout sous les aisselles, Kiki avait l'air d'une nageuse est-allemande (ceci est du au fait que j'avais les bras perpendiculaire à mon corps lorsque ma soeur m'y avait enrobée de papier collant). Ma copine l'ayant vu l'autre jour trouvait qu'elle n'avait pas assez de sein, moi-aussi mais le ruban disait le contraire. Mais après avoir excisé quelques centimètres de « peau », le buste est finalement trop petit mais ceci est facilement corrigeable, je n'aurai qu'à mettre sur Kiki un de mes soutien-gorge, rembourré évidemment. Il ne me reste maintenant¸ qu'à lui faire un bras.

This has been a fairly busy week, I've gone back to work after a two week break and of course, my workload has gone up exponentially. At home I was able to continue working on my dress form's cover and boy it was not easy. First I wanted to make in a brown popeline that I had bought for another project but I didn't have enough. Then I wanted to use a brown linen that was in my stash but the pattern I used was to small around the tummy. After another trip to the fabric store, I got this beigey grey heavy gabardine. I made the pattern with another fabric directly on the mannequin, made a few adjustments and it was all done. I decided to put a dress on it that I had just bought and I finally saw that the form was just too big, my measuring tape this time confirmed it.

So I undid the fabric at the back and with my knife I cut out a few darts on the belly, in the back all the way down to the bum and the underarms. My dear Kiki (yes that's her name) looks like Dr Frankenstein's monster underneath her cover but now, my eyes no longer tell me that she's wrong. They were also telling me that there was too much belly but I thought that was vanity talking. The difference was so visible, she looked like an East-German swimmer in the back (my arms were perpendicular to my body while my sister was wrapping me up under there). My buddy told me that her boobs looked too small but this was one area where the measuring tape was accurate but after loosing all that « skin », it turns out they were too small but that's easily fixable, she'll just have to were one of my bras, stuffed of course. Now, I have to make is an arm for her.
