Forgot to add that yes the #1 Ladies' Detective agency is good. It's not just about the mysteries (some as simple as finding out if a husband is cheating or as complicated as tracking the whereabouts of a son who disapeared a decade ago), you get a glimpse of life in Botswana through the eyes of Mma Ramotswe, the lead character played by Jill Scott in the TV series. She's a traditional woman living a not so traditional life. The books does give a vivid description of the landscape and people so you can truly so how things are. So yes, I do recommend it.
