One more tattoo/Un autre tatouage

Today, I got another tattoo. I was gonna get it done a Tattoomania but just like at the Smilin Buddha, they were booked solid today. I think I spoke to Pierre, it's famous wunderkind who opened the studio and has been inking since he was 16. He looked so ordinary, well he did have a tattoo sleeve but all he had to wear was a long sleeve T-shirt and he wouldn't look like a member of Montreal's alternative scene. I had seen him on Christiane Charrette's TV show back in 97 and I had wanted to get my first ink at his place but I went west instead of going east and he was closing so I made the unfortunate choice of going elsewhere and got a less then acceptable work done. I thought of checking later this week to see if their were spot's available but finally I decided to go back to the place where I got my second tattoo done and lucky for me an artist had just finished and was available. I figured I could go anywhere for the drawing I wanted. I'll probably go to Pierre's for my 35th B'day, I'll get my first tatto redone and I'll let him have almost carte blanche to do his work, and it will probably cost me a twice or maybe three time what I paid for my current work.

For this current work I thought of letting the artist do whatever he wanted with some restrictions, then I was gonna get a dragon, my Chinese astrological symbol but then I googled the translation for "woman" I didn't want to go that route because so many have Chinese symbols but I found a site that had different expressions related to womanhood. I hesitated between TALENTED WOMAN with regards to my knitting and sewing skills (and others I won't divulge, my dad occasionally stops by...), BEAUTIFUL AND VOLUPTUOUS and finally HELLCAT (mostly because the characters literally translated to bad-tempered and evil). I liked the first one because it was graphically simple but I also liked the other two mostly for their meaning. In the end, I picked BEAUTIFUL AND VOLUPTUOUS (pronounced mei yen) because I think one needs to pat oneself on the back once in a while. It was quick work, 20 minutes and on the pain scale it went from unpleasant to tolerably painful but it would probably have been worst if I did not block the whole experience by listening to my iPod at full volume and by blocking the view with my magazine. I think I have exorcised my need for tattoos for a little while.

Aujourd'hui j'ai été me faire faire un autre tatouage. Je me suis présentée chez Tattoomania mais tout comme Smilin Buddha, il n'y avait pas de disponibilité aujourd'hui. Je crois avoir parlé à Pierre, l'enfant-génie qui a ouvert le studio et qui manie l'aiguille et l'encre depuis l'âge de 16 ans. Il avait tellement l'air inoffensif si ce n'était de son bras tatoué mais il ne suffit que d'un T-shirt à manche long pour qu'il devienne tout à fait anonyme. Je l'avais vu à l'émission de Christiane Charrette en 97 et je voulais y faire faire mon premier tatouage mais je me suis trompé de d'endroit et j'ai malheureusement décidé d'aller ailleurs où j'ai eu un ouvrage de piètre qualité. J'ai pensé y retourner plus tard cette semaine pour voir s'il y avait de la place mais finalement je suis allé là où j'avais fait faire mon second tatouage et où finalement un tatoueur était disponible. La raison pour laquelle j'ai été chez Tattooatouage est que je me suis dit que vu que je ne voulais faire que des symboles chinois, je pouvais faire faire ça n'importe où. J'irai peut-être voir Pierre pour mes 35 ans pour refaire mon premier tatouage. Je lui laisserai presque carte-blanche et ça me coûtera probablement deux ou trois fois le montant dépensé aujourd'hui.

Pour mon dernier tatouage j'avais pensé laisser le tatoueur faire ce qu'il veut avec certaines restrictions. Par la suite j'ai pensé faire un dragon, mon signe astrologique chinois mais lorsque j'ai cherché sur Google les symboles chinois pour "femme", j'ai trouvé plusieurs expressions qui y sont reliés. Je ne voulais pas me faire faire un tatouage chinois vu que c'est tellement répandu mais j'ai aimé ceux-ci, FEMME TALENTUEUSE en ce qui concerne mes "talents" de tricots et de couturière (ainsi que d'autres que ne nommerai pas vu que mon père vient y faire un tour de temps en temps), BEAUTIFUL AND VOLUPTUOUS et FEMME DE MAUVAIS TEMPÉRAMENT ET MALÉFIQUE. J'aimais bien le premier à cause de sa pureté graphique mais j'aimais aussi bien les autres à cause que la définition. Finalement j'ai opté pour BELLE ET VOLUPTUEUSE (prononcé mei yen) car on doit toujours se faire des fleurs de temps en temps. Ce fut rapide, 20 minutes et la douleur se trouvait t quelque part entre inconfortable et douleureux mais tolérable. Il aurait été encore pire si je n'avais pas mis mon iPod à plein volume et bloqué la vue avec mon magazine. Je crois avoir satisfait mon besoin de tatouage pour un bout de temps.
