Knitting World Cup/Coupe Mondiale du Tricot

The other day I was listening to the Cast On Podcast and it was announced that Yarn Monkey was organizing a Knitting World Cup. I didn't participate in the Knitting Olympics for lack of inspiration (and I don't like the look of button in general, hence why I don't have any) and I didn't think I'd participate in this "competition" either. Then I saw that Kadi was participating and we talked about it at last night's knit meet (yes some of us managed to pull ourselves from Taylor, Katherine and The Oilers).
[Am liking the album so far but then I'm a hardcore Dixie Chicks fan. Yes as in the country trio. Have been listening to them since 1998]
Anyway that got me thinking and I came up with the idea of making a beanie the colours of Togo (a tiny West African country). Before you ask, I'm Haitian but a colleague of mine is from Togo and he won't be in the office during the first rounds and should his team actually advance, he's catching the first plane out to Germany. I have several ideas as to how to render the colour on the beanie but I have to make up my mine pretty quick. [Still liking the album] This is also an excuse to order some yarn from Fuzzymabel. I could pick some up at my LYS but I just feel like placing an order online. I know their service is pretty fast so I know I'll get the yarn in time. This will also be an excuse to try kool-aid dying. Should be fun...

L'autre jour j'écoutais le Podcast de Cast on et il y avait été annoncé que Yarn Monkey organisait une Coupe Mondiale du Tricot. Je n'avais pas participé aux Olympiques du Tricot (par manque d'inspiration et aussi parce que j'aime bien le look très limpide de mon blogue et donc je n'aime pas en affecter le look avec des boutons). Je ne pensais donc pas participer à cette «compétition» non plus mais après avoir vu que Kadi allait le faire et surtout après en avoir discuter lors de notre rencontre hier soir (certaines d'entre nous avons été capable de s'arracher au match hockey en cours), j'ai décidé de rajouter mon nom à la liste. Je ferai une tuque aux couleurs du Togo (un minuscule pays de l'Afrique occidentale). Je suis d'origine haïtienne mais j'ai un collègue togolais qui ne sera pas au bureau durant les rondes préliminaires et si jamais son pays réussit à se rendre en demi final, il prend le premier vol pour l'Allemagne. J'ai plusieurs idées quand à la façon que j'utiliserai les couleurs du drapeau mais va falloir que je me décide assez vite. Ce sera aussi l'occasion d'aller magasiner chez Fuzzymabel. Je pourrais très certainement trouver le fil ici mais ça me tente de magasiner en ligne et vu que le dernière fois que j'ai utilisé les services de ce magasin en ligne j'en ai été très satisfaite, je suis certaine que je recevrai ma commande à temps. Je le prendrai en blanc et je le teindrai avec du Kool-aid. J'ai hâte de commencer.
[Verdict: j'aime bien l'album mais il faudra que je l'écoute quelques fois avant pour vraiment l'apprécier".
