Study in white/Étude de blanc

If you watch HGTV then you know why I would say that I had a Sarah Richardson moment when, chosen a new colour for my sewing room, I held six swatches of whites and off white in my hands. I chose Behr's Cotton knit, from their new Premium Plus Ultra collection, a godsend because I had to cover the ice cream chocolate colour that was on the walls before. The 8 ½x11 on the right top pic (and bottom on the bottom pic) is just there so you can see the colour on the repainted wall. It reminds me of natural linen though one of the swatches you see here is called Bleached Linen (second from left, bottom pic). This is also a study in making sure you see the colour in the correct light. I took the top pic last night and the bottom this afternoon after I changed the light fixture in the room. The new bulbs emit a more natural light so all the colours look less yellow, and the undertones come out more, which helped me remember why I initially didn't like Bleached Linen, it's a reddish white.

Si vous regardez le poste HGTV ou, en français au Québec Canal Vie, vous comprendrez pourquoi j'ai eu un moment à la Sarah Richardson lorsque, ayant à choisir une nouvelle couleur pour ma salle de couture, j'ai eu 6 échantillons de blancs et blancs cassés dans mes mains. Finalement j'ai choisi Cotton Knit, de la nouvelle collection de Premium Plus Ultra de Behr qui contient l'apprêt et la peinture dans le même gallon, ce qui m'a permis de couvrir mes murs qui avaient la couleur de crême glacé au chocolat avec seulement deux couches sans apprêt. Le 8 ½x11 à droite n'est là que pour faire contraste avec le mur repeint. Il me rappelle la couleur de lin naturel quoiqu'un des échantillon sur le mur s'appelle justement Bleached Linen (2e à gauche dans la photo du bas). Ces photos sont aussi une illustration de fait que l'on doit choisir la couleur de ses murs dans la bonne lumière. J'ai pris la photo du haut hier soir, celui du bas cet après-midi après avoir changé le luminaire dans la chambre, les nouvelles ampoules émettent une lumière naturelle un peu plus bleuté, les échantillons ont tous l'air moins jaunes et les nuances ressortent plus. Je me suis rappelé pourquoi je n'aimais pas Bleached Linen initiallement, c'est un blanc fait à partir du rouge.
