As you can see, I'm making some serious progress with the chullo. First of all, fair-isle knitting and watching TV does not got well together. I've finally decided to give to use both continental and english methods to do the project and though I've struggled a bit tension with the right hand, I'll keeping it, but only for fair-isle, continental is so much more efficient way to knit.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the colours are not as loud as I expected. I'm working on the top which has the red and white star. I've chosen to do it fair-isle even if that means carrying the yarn over 10 sts. I figure I'll twist it with the other colour half way to keep from having such a long floater.
Should my Togolese friend decide to keep the hat (probably for his son) I'll make one for myself, using neutral colours of course.
Comme vous pouvez voir, j'ai fait un sérieux progrès en quelques jours avec le bonnet péruvien. Je dois cependant dire que regarder la télé et tricoter en fair-isle n'est pas très commode. J'ai finalement décidé d'essayer la méthode de tenir les fils à la manière continental et anglaise et bien que j'ai eu un peu de difficulté à maintenir une tension constante avec la main droite, je vais garder cette façon de faire mais seulement pour le tricot fair-isle, la manière continental étant beaucoup plus efficace.
Je suis tout de même surprise du fait que les couleurs ne sont pas aussi criardes que je l'aurais cru. En ce moment, je travaille sur le haut, qui aura une étoile blanche sur fond rouge. J'ai choisi de le faire en fair-isle malgré le fait que je traine le fil sur 10 mailles. Je le croiserai à mi-chemin avec l'autre fil pour éviter d'avoir un si long fil qui flotte dans le vide.
Si jamais mon ami togolais décidait de garder le chapeau, probablement pour son fils, je m'en ferai certainement un, en utilisant des couleurs plus neutre évidemment.
